You are not a human being having a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being having a human experience.”

An Elavated State of Living

Every decision is made in consciousness. The world around us accepts us according to our inner conviction. A person lacking in confidence may feel very resentful if someone makes a derogatory remark about him, but his consciousness may voice itself through others. The converse also is true. Perhaps an individual’s expression is not up to par, yet people commence to praise him and encourage him. The voices around us are quite apt to indicate to us the way in which we are using the law. If these voices express undue caution, we should create a conviction of confidence and courage.

We can never fool ourselves, really. We can ignore power, but we can never successfully deceive ourselves into believing that we are something which we are not. Our God-conscious Self must come to the fore. We may postpone its opportunity or delay its awakening, but as surely as day follows the night we shall come into our own.

Demonstrating mental-spiritual laws is a natural process. We do not have to coerce the laws to make them work for us. In order to drive an automobile we do not have to know how to build one, but we do have to learn how to drive. We do not have to know all the mechanics of a mental treatment, but we do have to know how to direct the thought that we want to express, sustain it in consciousness, and not interfere with subjective mind in its normal process. The law of mind always accepts our conviction and creates it. We must know what we are seeking to accomplish. An automobile cannot go forward and backward at the same time. Neither can we make progress when we are alternately optimistic and doubtful. We must decide upon the direction we wish to take. All of our thinking must align itself with this positive direction. When we know what we want to do, and speak with authority, our demonstration will follow. The law responds quickly when we mean what we say.
